BlueprintsBy Emily Brummund Jan 11th, 2016

In 2013, I was lost.  I had done a lot of great things in my life, but I just could not see what was next.  The horizon was blank for me. Did I want to go back to the Corporate world? Politics? Ministry? I really had served in many different capacities from working at my church in regional ministries, working in technology at a large regional bank, to serving a United States Senator. I had knowledge. I had experiences. I had talent.  But, I was unsure of what should be next. I wanted to make a difference.  I wanted my life to matter.  I did not want to go back to a job and a paycheck. I wanted more. Have you ever felt that way?

Enter coaching.  It was life changing for me.  Dare I say transformative? In simple terms, the icing on the coaching cake was my LifePlan.  A LifePlan is a two day, one on one, process where you explore numerous constructs that bring you to your purpose statement (why I exist), your vision statement (if I complete my purpose, what will I see), and the action steps to get there.  Sound daunting?  It’s not. However, it is life changing.  Transformative.

When I walked out of my LifePlan, I had a blueprint for my life.  It sounds unbelievable, but it is true.  We spent the first 1 ½ days looking back and exploring my life. What that perspective gave me was clues.  Clues to who I was and why I am on this earth. We used that perspective to point me forward.  Forward to my purpose.  My calling. My reason for living. Once I had that point nailed, the rest was a bonus, but it was a great bonus.  I looked at my replenishment cycle – those things that reenergize me and allow me to be at my best.  We looked at my time assessment.  How much of my productive time do I spend working? With my family? On my spiritual life?

Now, as a coach, I am a huge fan of taking my clients through our full coaching process, the culmination being the LifePlan.  I love to see the look on my client’s face when we get done and they see their life displayed in charts around the room.  I love to see the light in their eyes, the excitement to get started on their action items and to share their new found revelations with family and friends. I love to hear from them as they are implementing the changes they decided to make in their lives.  I love seeing them living their God ordained purpose.

Does this process sound exciting to you? Do you desire to find your calling? What are you waiting for? Let’s get started today!
